Top 7 Friendship Quotes

December 26, 2023 · In: Simple Living

Top 7 Friendship Quotes! But first, a backstory: My dad’s work took my parents and family of 8 around the world. From ages 0-23, I moved house around 20 times. I grew up in Canada, America, the UK and Australia and found navigating friendships in each country difficult, especially as I was homeschooled and we would often leave the country we were in once we had established friendships.

There wasn’t an easy route to stop feeling lonely. However, when I closed my school books and switched off the laptop and attended church and youth group, following up with people I had met and growing in friendships weekly, I found a lightness to my days. Waking up in the morning and having a catch up with a friend to look forward to during the day brought deep connection and joy into my week.

Loneliness across all age groups has seen an increase since the COVID-19 pandemic. An epidemic of loneliness has followed with social media adding to soaring rates of depression and anxiety. Additionally, this study found that ‘people who use social media for the motive of maintaining their relationships feel lonelier than those who spend the same amount of time on social media for other reasons.’ (Bonsaksen et al 2023), How ironic that in an effort to connect we become lonelier. Social media exacerbates loneliness.

Here are Top 7 friendship quotes.

1. Aristotle

“A friend is one soul abiding in two bodies.” — Aristotle.

2. Proverbs

The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense (Proverbs 27:9).

3: Samuel Taylor Coleridge

And though thou notest from thy safe recess old friends burn dim, like lamps in noisome air love them for what they are; nor love them less, because to thee they are not what they were. – Samuel Coleridge

4. Unknown

In the wild, female elephants are known as fierce protectors. And when one of their sisters is suffering, they circle up around her. They close in tight, watch guard, and even kick dust around her to mask her vulnerable scent from predators.

And yet, we are the same. This is who we are, and who we are meant to be for each other. Sometimes we’re the ones in the middle. Sometimes we’re the ones kicking up dust with fierce, fierce love. But the circle remains.

5. C. S. Lewis

“Friendship … is born at the moment when one man says to another “What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . .”
― C.S. Lewis

Friendship Quote 6. Mark Twain

“Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.”
― Mark Twain

Friendship Quote 7. Jane Austen

“There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.”
― Jane Austen

It is so important to fight this and stay connected IN PERSON not simply over our phones.

Peaceful, connected, slow living is incredibly desirable, yet often unattainable in the fast paced society we live in.

We are created for connection!
